My granddaughter is due in 10 days - if she comes on time, I'll miss the Lost season premiere...but she is probably the only thing worth missing it for. So it's time for Noni and Popi to get off their bushkas and start fixing up a nursery here for her. LOL - she's not even here and I'm already babysitting twice in October. ;)

A while back, we decided on a Holly Hobbie theme for here. There was a Hallmark/American Greetings store closing in the mall and I got a few figurines at a ridiculous price. Plus we have a stuffed Holly Hobbie for her as well. But I couldn't find pictures to match the theme we planned. So we figured we'd have bare walls. I had drawn a set of 11 Disney pics for her room at her house and my son-in-law suggested I do the same for here. Duh. Yeah, that's right, I can try and draw what I want. Forgot about that.

So I searched the web, found the pics I wanted, but of course my printer doesn't do the size I wanted. And then J suggested doing the pics in a rainbow, so she'd always have her favorite color. The pics are done, DJ's emptied out the room - now all I need is for J to start working on prepping and painting the walls.

The room is L shaped, and tiny. It's going to be a cream color (off-white) with cornflower trim and doors. We're going to put shelves to hold the figurines at the end of bottom part of the L. But here's the pics for the long wall. If I did this right, the faces should go in order from right profile (red) to left profile (orange).

Damn, that was hard to scan - they're already matted. And there's two pics to go on either side of her window. We figured this was a theme that'll grow with her. We're hoping she likes it. If I remember, I'll have to take the camera to Swan's to get a pic of the 'Wall Of Disney' for y'all. That actually came out much better - and Soldier is very pleased that Jessica Rabbit was included...so much so that he wanted to hang that one in their room but Swan put her foot down. LOL - men!

Wow, Lion, those are really great! The only problem I can see is that everyone who comes in will be looking at the art and ignoring Anna! ;)

Slitter - ain't no way anyone's ignoring this baby. She's the first girl in Soldier's family (with that last name) in 90 years. And for 26.5 years, we had 5 generations of women, until my great grandmother died. When my mom was born, her great grandmother was still alive, so she had it as well. We're about to have it again. The circle is complete. :)

Besides, the Disney stuff is much better.

ok, I'm sidetracking for a story for ya, Lion. When my older sister was born she was the first girl to be born on my dad's father's side of the family in a few generations. We're not sure how many. But he was one of 6 boys and his father only had brothers too (several of them, although i'm not sure how many) and when my dad called his father and said 'congrats grandad it's a girl', his father wouldn't believe him. So, when his parents got to the hospital to see the baby that night the baby is in a blue blanket. So my grandad smacks my dad upside the head and says 'see, told you it was a boy'. My dad says, 'no, just peek under the blanket'. The hospital had run out of pink blankets because a bunch of girls had been born in the last few days. Anyway, just thought I'd share.

Those are gorgeous pics Lion. I'm sure she'll love havin them on her walls as she grows up.

Great Lion. Another story to reinforce your ideas...

My mother is an artist/interior designer by trade. She painted one whole wall as a mural in my daughter's room. It is bunnies sort of dressed as characters in a vegetable and flower garden (we did country flowers and small animals for her room ... we live on 7 acres we call CottonTail Trace since we have so many bunnies on the property.)

She still enjoys it at age 10. Your granddaughter will feel so special 'cause there is no other room as personalized for her in the whole world.

And to help make it a little more grown up, last year we added butterflies sort of small flying off the flowers and then we have butterflies much more big and overscaled that seem to have flown to the other walls (butterflies are really big for 10 year olds...).

This should last her until 14/15. Then I don't know what we will do.

I promise you, your granddaughter will think her room (both of them) are the best rooms ever. I expect as soon as she can talk she will be bragging on them and her fabulous grandmother.

Great Holly Hobbies, Lion. Anna will enjoy them for a long time. My daughter had Holly Hobbie decor the first time it was popular. She had a hard time changing from them for a more grown up look, and kept a couple of plaques for years.

Lion, I finally read this thread. I noticed the title and thought......."I don't know who Anna is, I'll read this later". LOL, I forgot about your granddaughter. I was thinking the other day that it was getting close to your daughter's due date. I can see this little girl is gonna' be so loved. The Holly Hobbies are adorable. I think it is so cool that your "circle" is going to be complete again. Good luck to all of you.

The next time I see a thread about Anna, I'll know who it is.

Those are adorable...and she will be able to grow into them, so you wont have to redo the room in 2 years. Perfect!! :D
