In about 2 weeks I'll be heading to New Brunswick to visit my parents and see their new home. It will be my second time flying and second time in a small plane(18 passangers max) I'm so nervous and afraid that I won't be able to go that I have dreams everynight now about it. But I think I will pull through.
While there we may even visit Maine. It's practially next door and my parents love going there for yard sales. They always come back with their trunk full. I can just image what the people at the border might be thinking when they see them coming.
I'm hoping to take lots of pictures, and this time I'll make sure I got the flash on. :luck:

Snip, if I could go up in a 7 passenger helicopter in sleeting weather to the top of a Glacier, YOU can get in that plane and be fine. I was scared you know what and had rosary beads in my pocket. Some stupid woman at breakfast on the cruise ship was telling me that the helicopter pilots try to scare you and go up and down and through narrow areas. That made me feel worse. I had to do it though. It was a big step for me and you know what..............I LOVED IT!!! awesome. When we got to the heliport I looked for the nearest bathroom (nerves ya know) and talked to one of the girls who gave us our special boots for the ice. Told her I was scared. She told me I would be fine and said that I had a really cute pilot. I was afraid my head would get cut off by the blades, but they really are way above your head. Naturally, I ducked though. The pilot looked like an angel and his name was the same as my son so I felt secure that was a sign. I would do it again. Just relax and think good thoughts. When I got on that glacer top I jumped up and yelled "YEAH! I DID IT". We are leaving for Maine tomorrow for a few days. Its gorgeous there. I will take photos too.

You have my sympathies - I'm so bad, I'm a white knuckle flyer even when I'm not the one flying!
But I'm sure you'll have a good time once you land...or sounds like you will at least. Enjoy the vacation. ;)

I've been in planes like that, Snip. I think those little ones have turbulance when they fly over paperclips! Little plane like that is usually a short flight though. I'm sure you'll be fine. Just remember Virgo and the helicopter!

Should I say that it's safer to fly than to drive? Or will that freak ya out about getting to the airport? ;) I had to do a hopper flight a couple of times (can't remember where I was flying) and it's not so bad. Just think of it as less the pilot has to worry about.

Good luck Snip and just think wonderful thoughts and what a nice time you are going to have. Enjoy the view below. When we were in Alaska we had to take an hour flight in a smaller plane than I am used to and I looked outside and down and saw the shadow of our plane and over it was a beautiful rainbow. Take care.

Actually flying at night is quite pretty. All those lights. I've flown in at night several times. The prettiest was LA I think - you hit the edge of the city and it keeps going and going and going - think it's something like half an hr of flying before you hit LAX when coming from the northish.

thank you all for sharing your stories.
OH! You wanted STORIES?
Should I have told you about the time .... no maybe not. ;) Hey, I'm still here to tease you aren't I? If you have computer access there, when will you be back?
I like the lights at night too, TL. It's fun to try and guess what towns you're flying over. The big ones are usually easy but it is still fun.

Well I'm here now, my parents have the internet, thie only thing I was thinking would be stopping me from going online was the amount of things my parents have planned for us to do. SO many places to go and see.
There is a lot of mass and maine licence plates up here, I guess since they are sorta close by a lot just drive on up.
Everything is HUGE here, the trees, the parks and buildings. there are only a handfull of buildings back home taller than 3-4 stories -because of some kind of by-law that was passed in the late 80's early 90's nothing in the downtown are can be taller.
Thats all for now!
on and so far we have 280 pictures taken

Well we're back and we have a lot to do before I an post any pictues, but don't worry, I wont take as long as I did last time ;)
When we came back out house was all messed up. the landlord decided to book a contractor to replace the windows in the house while we were gone. they told us about it and we said it would be alright. But apparently it will take a week for things to go back to normal. now they are also doing siding and stuff too. they cut our cable and internet so we didnt have any till today. They left all their tools here, dust and sawdust was so bad in places. It's hard living here when your kitchen is full of funiture that doesnt normally go there. and we can't even use the living room or the dinning room right now. So we pretty much use just our bedroom for everything. This was something we were NOT looking forward to when we came home.

Bummer! I hope your trip was better than the homecoming! I know how hectic things are after a vacation and getting things put away. I can only imagine how rough it is to try and get back to normal when normal is not what it was before you left! Good luck!

Oh, that sucks Snip. The least they could have done is cleaned up after themselves so that you could use that part of the house. New windows and siding are a good thing though, so hopefully they will get it all done soon and things will get back to normal.

Poor you, Snip! It must be pretty awful to come home to such a mess when you probably just want to relax and also get back into the swing of things. Now you can't do either. :(
Here's to a quick finish and a thorough cleanup - not on your part but from the folks that messed it all up to start with.
Despite all that, welcome home! I missed you in chat!

Oops! I missed this update! I am also loving the door. That is really nice. But, wow. They broke the walls and everything to get that stuff in. I'm getting a better appreciation of the mess you must have found. Is/was it wallboard or plaster?

It'll all be worth it in the end! I, too, love the door! I want one but never had the nerve to get one. I could just see a baseball come flying in through it with my bunch! Great views through the windows! Really nice color on the trees.

I think it was a bit of both, there was so much dirt on the floor, it was kinda hard to tell, the house is also old (45-50 yrs) and there are so many improvments and renovations done on it already its hard to tell what is really old and what is just a few years old.
It looks a LOT better now! almost done!

Wow Snip, felt like I was there with you guys. Thanks. That older part of town looked so much like the rural town in Maine where my family lives.
Love that market too and all the pumpkins. And don't you wish we could find a stick large enough to roast all those marshmallows.....lol They were awesome photos and I really enjoyed them. Hope you took Jenn out of the shackles....lol

That was quite a tour, Snip. I really enjoyed it seeing them all.
So, are the giant marshmallows are really covered hay bales?

Yeah, one time when I was little and we passed a farm I was told I said "I didn't know you could grow marshmellows!!" lol and that brought back many memories. I just had to take a picture of that hay.
Yeah, we let Jenn out, but only after she let us take the picture lol ;)

Hey, those were great! And I love that we got to "meet" Jenn too! :)
The "marshmallow farm" cracked me up, lol. I also loved the pic of you and Jenn walking along with the people statues. That was really funny!
