I'm in charge of the Holiday party for Charlie's class. I found two cute games, but I need help thinking about other possible activities/crafts. We have a very diverse school (The teacher is Jewish and there's at least one child who represents each of the "major" religions -- Hindu, Buddist, Muslim, Christian...)
One game that is pretty "Christmas" is the Santa's Beard Relay. Children are split into two teams and Vaseline is applied to their "beard area." In a set amount of time (3 minutes or so), each child runs to a table where there are cotton balls and with hands behind his/her back he gets as many "attached" as possible, then runs back for the next child's turn.
Another one (that Charlie tested with me) has the child draw a holiday picture. The catch is that the paper is on his head. The instructions are "draw a tree" - "put a star on your tree" -- "put ornaments..." Scores are given based on accuracy -- I figured we could draw a menora etc in the scene.
Any great ideas? We are having families donate a food item from their holiday tradition.

They are easy to make and kids love them. You need whole Marichino cherries with stems, Hershey's Kisses, melted baking chocolate, pecan slices and red cake decorating gel.
Dip the cherry in melted chocolate and set on parchment or wax paper to dry. Take Hershey's Kiss and dip flat end in chocolate to "glue" it to the cherry, sticking pecan slices in between the cherry and Kiss to make the ears. Use red gel to make 'eyes'.
I took the ingredients to my MILs Christmas Party last year and set 8 kids up at the table to make the mousies. They had a great time and even the 5 yr old was able to make them.

Cute idea, Punkin! When I first saw the picture, I was struck by how well you could see the eyes, even on the dark chocolate. At last, a reason to be glad for red-eye.

I know of a fun game, it's not really a "holiday" game but it is sure to make a few laughs with the kids. It's call "What if?"
Here is how it is done. Everyone writes a "What if..." question on a slip of paper and put it in a box, and then in another box they would put a slip of paper with the answer. Then someone would pick a question out of a box(without looking) and then pick an answer out of the other box(without looking) Then read it aloud.
Here is an example.
Kid 1 asks "What if snow smelt like chocolate?" then answers "Then everyone wold be too busy smelling snow instead of playing in it."
Kid 2 asks "What if there were no chairs in school?" Then answers "Then we would sit on our desks."
Then kid 3 woould go up and pick a question and reads "what if there were no chairs in school?" then picks an answer "Then everyone would be too busy smelling snow instead of playing in it."
When each kid makes a few of these each depending on how many kids there are and how long you want to play you can have a lot of funny results. It's great for younger kids if they can read, especially since they seem to have a better sence of humor.

That is a cute one!
Punkin -- love the mice, but I forgot to say that our school board instituted a nutritional policy that pretty much makes anything that tastes good off limits! Nothing can be provided to the children that has more than 6g of fat per serving AND it must have either fewer than 150 calories or more than 2g of fiber.
Stupid policy. Give them chocolate and let them have PE everyday (or at least mandate recess!)

Punkin love the mice and printed out the instructions. Even my adult children would love them.
Could you make a snowman out of 3 three different size circles cut from white posterboard. Glue one on top of the other to create the body.
Draw on black coal eyes and a mouth with black marker and then make a carrot shape out of orange paper for each child. Hang the snowman up on a wall and instead of pin the tail on the donkey it would be put the nose on the snowman.
Here is little gift idea I would give to co-workers or someone I just wanted to give alittle something too. Not for your class party though. Fill a Ziplock Sandwich or Snack bag with mini marshmallows and attach the following little poem: You have been bad
So here's the scoop
All you get for Christmas is Snowman Poop!
Get it? hahahaha I would add a scratch off game to each bag.

Sli,
I will send you the little snowman/poem thing that goes with it. That is what makes it look so cute. Then you can copy it and print it. People love it especially if they win on the scratch off.

V6, my MIL would fill a small sandwich baggie with styrofoam peanuts, put that poem in it and sell it at craft fairs for a buck/bag. They went like hotcakes for several years.
