Hey friends!! :hug2:

I cannot believe Emily is already two and a half but she is! I thought I would post her picture with Santa for you all and just give a quick update on us.

I had been working at home 20 hours a week, running my own business in addition to that, and taking care of Emily full time. It consumed me, but it seems like sometimes life shifts and takes care of the things that are desperately out of balance because my company was bought by a new company and so I was permanantly let go at the beginning of November.

Yea, it stinks to lose the income but wow, what a huge relief it has been to get my home and my world back in order again (just in time for the holidays too! ) Anyways, now I have more time again and it feels great to just be able to take care of Emily, my own business, and my household.

Emily was sick all of October and finally recovered, although she has a cold that is hanging on. She is really the joy of my life. She is so smart (and yes, I'm biased)! She knows all of her letters and numbers up to 20. She can even type on the computer, she can spell her name and MOM and DAD  It is so darn cute!! :lovey:

In fact, I have it on a short video clip and I will post that too!

We are in the throes of potty training right now and so far she has had 3 dry days in a row (phew) and so I really think we are seriously getting the job done!

Well, enough rambling, here is the pic of her and Santa and the video!!

First of all, its wonderful that you can work and stay at home with your daughter. I was a stay at home Mom to 4 children and at times was made to feel guilty because all I was doing is "being a housewife". You are doing it all and I applaud you for that. I fortunately raised my children at a time when the economy was better and I didn't have to work. I did take a part time job when my youngest was a pre-teen. It breaks my heart that woman have to work so hard and we really don't get the appreciation we should. This world would fall apart if it wasn't for a woman's strength and indurance.
And second of all Emily is adorable. Reminds me of my oldest daughter because of the haircut and how smart she is. Eileen is now a successful attorney. That haircut brings back memories especially when Eileen would get out of bed in the morning and her hair used to be sticking out all over the place. The video was precious. Happy holidays to you all. Oh, and that Santa looks REAL!!

AWWW! What a big girl! Emily is special in so many ways. It seems like just yesterday, you were jumping through hoops to have her. The video was wonderful.

Kramer, it sounds like your life took a 180...or at least a 90 degree turn. Truthfully, I think you have plenty to take care of with Emily and your business and your home, besides. I don't know how you've done it all, but obviously Emily is thriving.

I don't know what the percentage is, but most kids Emily's age cry when they get to see Santa. She looks a bit tentative, but no boo-hooing! Congrats on that!

Kramer,

Thanks for sharing the picture! I kind of feel like some sort of relative - just because we've all gotten to share in Emily since the VERY begining. I am so happy for you & your family.

That was awesome!!!

I am pretty sure you have a child genius or proto... proto.... whatever....in your house. She is SOOOO smart. My daughter (whom I know is perfectly and happily average) was no where near what your daughter is doing. My daughter learned a lot when she was four years old and has been learning since, but it is purely because she is interested in it. No other reason. She wasn't interested in it at 2 and a half.

Thanks for sharing everything.

P.S. I couldn't think of the correct spelling for that word. In a few years Emily might be able to help me out. (at the rate she is learning.) Ha Ha.

I've never have had contact with a child that smart before. I almost wrote I have never known a child as smart as her before. Then I realized I only know her from here and some people would call that just an acquaintance, but you have been a part of my "family" for quite a few years now. I just have never gotten to meet you face to face.

Thanks again.

Great pic and video, Krams. I see Emily uses my preferred method of typing, lol. ;)

Wow, 2 1/2 years...so much has happened and yet, how recent it all seems.

Thanks for all of the nice compliments everyone. Yes, she (and me) are family members here LOL. I always feel like this has been our home, even now though I don't have much time to post anymore.

And believe it or not (you can't tell in that picture) but she was kicking and screaming NO NO NO when I took her to see Santa. That Santa was AWESOME! He calmed her down and got her to come over to see him very slyly. He really knew how to get down to her level and gain her trust (scarey actually).

Otherwise, Emily just wants Santa to leave the presents and go

I am not sure how smart she is compared to other 2.5 year olds but she most certainly makes me laugh almost every single day with the things that she says.

Last weekend she was at a Chinese restaraunt with her aunt and uncle and they told me that when the waiter started walking towards the table she started shouting out "The Chinese are coming, the Chinese are coming" .... OMG, I am so glad I wasn't there. I am really hoping she meant the chinese food was coming

The other day I heard her talking to Mr. Kramer and he told her something and she said:
"Well, actually dad" ...... You know, she is the local expert so she will correct you and tell you how it actually is.... oh well, I just love her to pieces no matter how sassy and smart she gets!
