I know I have been out of the loop for a while, but I was wondering if anyone has been having a fun summer by going anyplace new and where that might be? I've heard some say they've gone some place, but I can't recall what thread I saw it or if I am just remembering wrong.

I went to Iowa for two weeks. It wasn't such a trip to see the scenery, but I had an enjoyable time with my sisters, their husbands, and their children. I saw a couple of movies and ate some good food. I also saw my two grandbabies and spent time with my older children and their mates. They did have to work but was able to fit us in a couple of times during those weeks.

We're starting a big vacation month. We'll be spending the next week in PA and OH visiting family and fishing. Then we're off to my grandmother's 90th birthday celebration. We end the month "Up North."

In between, we're home for baseball games (Charlie's) and kitchen renovations.

No plans, just stay inside and "chill." Come Fall we are planning a big trip; ME, NH, VT, PQ.

My folks and sister are going to San Diego for ten days in the middle of the month. Part of the reason that particular destination was chosen is because my brother's out there for the summer working on a fellowship for a company that manufactures solar turbines.

I'm not going, though, since I didn't want to take as much time off as a 10-day trip would require. Also wanted to see if I could work out something shorter with a few friends, which hasn't come to pass... not yet, anyway. So as it stands I'll just be working and have the house to myself while I continue on my apartment search.

Actually, everyone has good plans.

Gabby, it sounds like a great month planned.

Fuel, I understand about needing to stay in where it is cooler. I look forward to hearing about your trip in the fall, though. I'd think that would be a great time to vacation because you would miss the vacationing families.

TK, having the home to yourself could be like a small vacation. I think just cleaning up after myself instead of everyone else would be a nice change. Maybe later something for you with your friends will work out.

Not having to get up at 6 a.m. is nice, in itself, to me.

Well, it isn't a vacation but in a few weeks I'll be off to Seattle for a business meeting. Two days in the air for one day of meeting, lol. I will catch up on my sleep anyway.

While there, if all goes as early planning seems to promise, I'll be having yet another dinner with some more SAers. That's always fun and I am already looking forward to it. :)

Almost immediately after that (only about long enough to come home and do laundry) I am off to Ohio. Any SAers in Columbus?

You sure are getting around Slitter!! That's great you get to meet some more of "us"! I think you might hold the record for that, huh? :)

So far my vacation days have consisted of either sitting in a hospital room or a doctor's office. Week of the 16th will find me in another vacation week. Let's see...the first day I will be in the dentist office with Sarah. The next will find me enjoying a lovely 4 hour session for senior pictures making sure my son smiles a least once in a while (he is not looking forward to this because he hates to "smile for the camera"). I sincerely hope the rest of the week finds me scrapbooking. That lets me relive all my past vacations over again! Not quite the same as going on a new trip but it is so much cheaper! ;)

We will be leaving in a couple of weeks for an adventure in the DeSoto. (Slitter, we are driving it this year.) Our convention is headquartered in Waldorf, MD. We will be sightseeing in the Washington, DC area. I'm looking forward to this trip after we arrive at our destination. It is the time spent between home and the hotel that could be interesting. You see, there is no air conditioning in the old DeSoto. This could be one long, hot ride.

Next month we will be going to Augusta, GA to visit with my daughter and her family.

Later this fall, if the hurricane gods are kind, we will be going to the North Carolina Outer Banks.

I must say, Slitter, your job sounds wonderful. I bet when you have a vacation you will stay home!!! (and rest up from all that jet lag.)

Frawniemae, being a fulltime mom, with teenagers, does limit the ability to go on a vacation away to someplace. I remember never being able to work out my older teenagers schedules to allow us to go on a family vacation. I guess I have that to look forward to again, in a few years. My two at home are too young for summer jobs, so far (yet it was another major discussion with the 14 year old boy. How do you expect me to believe you can hold a job when you can't even do chores for more than a week consistantly??? He is now trying to prove he can do his chores consistantly - which has been a great help at this time.)

Irishlass, I envy your traveling life. Hopefully, someday, I can be in your shoes and go places, see/meet people, etc.

I think it is 7 so far and could be up to 9 after this next trip if all goes well. I don't know if it is a record but it sure has been fun! I used to hate work travel but since becomming a member here and having friends almost everywhere I go, it sure has been a lot more enjoyable. :)

We are heading to Myrtle Beach in August for a family reunion. The girls are looking forward to spending time with Grammy & Pappy! I'm looking forward to some free babysitters!

Kramer, going to be in Mrytle Beach 7/21 - 7/28.

Just got back from a long weekend white water rafting with the kids. It was an absolute RUSH! I've been several times but first time for the kids. We did an easy river with primarily level 2 rapids with only two level 3's. My son isn't old enough, nor does he weigh enough, for anything much stronger.

Sounds like folks are having a good summer around here.

This got me thinking. I've meet 10, only 4-5 are "active."
