...got together last night.
Unfortunately, Dessa has to leave for work in 11 minutes. So I'm posting this as a placeholder so I don't forget to post about it (or she'll kill me).

we tried for photos... but... umm... well, the battery apparently died on my stupid little Hello Kitty digital camera, and my real digital camera is broken... and, try as I might, I did nothing more than succeed in possibly destroying the screw to the point where I'll never be able to open the battery compartment on the HK camera again... After trying for at least a half hour.
Anyway, once I found where her hotel was (I know closer to the convention center... not closer to the Space Needle), I went up, and we got to meet. Then we started wandering downtown Seattle (well, after she finished her cigarette), and we found the Icon Grill, which I pass on the bus every time I go to the convention center, but have never been in. They had meat, which was good. She picked up a burger (forgot what it was called), and a glass of local beer, and I had pasgetti and meatballs. Yes, pasgetti. I think I liked it for the name... It was really good. But I have to go to work tomorrow morning to snag my leftovers out of the walk-in where I left them today... (whoops...) We had fun chatting and gossiping and what-not (I showed off my sketchbooks), and she gave me a cute 4-leaf-clover keychain, which is currently hanging from my lanyard. After we ate, we found our way back to the hotel, and tried taking pictures. Well, except for the camera didn't work...
So, um, yeah, that was our evening.

Actually, it wasn't raining when we were walking, it did while we were in the restaurant, and it wasn't when we walked back!

Dessa was kind not to mention that I practically fell asleep on her when she was fiddling with that evil screw! It took me over 13 hours in airports and on airplanes to get there and I was dragging. By the time we were eating it was something like 10 o'clock St. Louis time. Not the best time to sit down to eat a lot as it made me even sleepier.
We sure did try just about everything each of us had that we though might make headway with that screw. Well, actually I just gave her stuff and then laid down on the bed, lol. Des, I am not ALWAYS that tired and poopy!
LeeLee, I came outside more than once to see it had rained but it never rained a drop on me. I actually expected to get wet at least once.
What struck me as weird was how long it stayed light. I mean it was like 9:30 pm and the sun was just starting to think about going down. In fact, the only time I saw Seattle in the dark was this morning when I was up at 3:30 to be ready for the cab coming at 5 am to take me to the airport. I wasn't even all the way to the airport when it was getting light outside again. I finally decided it was probably because Seattle is so much farther north. If it is light all day and all night in Alaska this time of year, it stands to reason that the day would last longer the farther north you go. (And thus I passed my time waiting for my first flight of the day, lol).
It was great to meet Des who was very kind and came to me instead of the other way around. She is a very talented artist too. I was impressed with the drawings she showed me. :wavey: Hiya, Des! I wish LeeLee could have come along too.
I'm probably forgetting stuff but I am tired. I'm waiting to see if I get my second wind or if I am just going to conk out. :)

Did you forget your camera, Sli?

I didn't even plan to take it. More to deal with in the security line and I didn't figure I'd need it. It isn't like I had the chance to do any sight seeing while I was there.
I did have a little time as it worked out. After the meeting ended there was this 90 min or so gap until the group met for dinner. It was too far to walk back to my hotel and I didn't want to cab there and back in such a short time so I just walked down the shoreline. Before too long, I found myself at the Pike Street Market. That's the place where they throw the fish. I didn't get as far as the fish (they might have been closed by then anyway) but I did pick up a Seattle lapel pin for my cap collection.
For the rest of you, when I was in Houston, Pocket and Mr. Pocket gave me a cap and also a lapel pin for their town. I thought it would be fun to get a lapel pin from all the places I go and put them in the cap. It's an inexpensive souviener and fun. So now I have one of the Seattle skyline to add to my slowly growing collection. When I look at the cap, I remember the places I have been and, better yet, the SAers I have been fortunate enough to meet on some of my trips. :)

Great! I'll bet in a few years you'll have quite a few pins. It's a nice collection because it doesn't take up a lot of space or require dusting....lol.
